With all of the heart break of the war, the BP oil spill in the Gulf coast and the deaths of so many of our talented artists as of late, I found a bright light in a young writer named Devin Pugliano.
His book “The Caine Batter” is quickly becoming the cult classic of our time, being described as “A tale of tragic love in the Grunge era of the 90’s” .
When I got my copy in the mail from Lulu.com, I really had no idea what to expect. I knew that in reality this author has a sharp sense of humor, is inflicted with severe panic/anxiety disorder that has recently progressed to Agoraphobia and that he hasn’t left his house in 2 months. I also knew he is a devoted father to two gorgeous girls and very happily married.
I couldn’t help but think I was about to venture into the rants of a semi bored, somewhat tortured mind.
What I found though, was the exact opposite. I found an honest, heart wrenching, deeply sorted story perfectly crafted to provide page turning anticipation of “What the fuck next?” This book dangles you over a sharks tank of bleak optimism, punches you in the face with the idea of true selflessness and circles around you from behind to expose everyone’s dirty little secret: true love and true identity.
You will find Elliott Tamur to be the new tragic super hero of his generation second to no one…not even Holden Caulfield.
In The Caine Batter you will find a life’s story as sad and as uplifting as Francis Phelan’s.
This book is important.
Get it!
