So I finally got around to practicing what I preach this month, and opened up both Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Okay, so Admin helped me, pointing out that the Fin kitchen crew was actually doing more than I was with the social media tools I’ve been pushing on them and that the best leaders lead by example.
For once, I found myself on the receiving end of his incredible lack of irony and sarcasm, the beneficiary of one of the few habits I’ve hated about him from day one.
Yes, it was humbling, almost as much as finding that even Fin’s dishwasher is already on Facebook, and on Twitter, too.
He was kind enough to remember me & friend me, as did Telulah, their super cute little bartender. They both have a bunch of friends and conversations going on, and here I am just starting out, trying to think of other people I know in business to get in touch with, since my friends won’t go near this stuff.
I guess no one that wealthy really wants their details passed around these days; too much cause for resentment, maybe.
So here I’m caught in the middle, not set up enough to stay private, not enough other connections to lead my clients by example.
Some marketing guru, huh?
